YWAM Nuevas Culturas is called to bring transformation to the Wounaan communities through discipling young leaders in the Word of God. Strategies include one on one discipleship, oral Bible teaching, leadership training, and inspiring a movement of Wounaan missionaries.
Directors Alex and Jennifer Cabezon are from Panama and Oregon, USA, respectively. They have been with YWAM for more than fourteen years, and moved to the community of Chepo in 2012 in order to reach Wounaan communities more directly. The Cabezons are joined by a small team of local Wounaan volunteers, as well as other short term missionaries from other countries and cultures. Together, they all seek to reach out to Wounaan and other traditional cultures, coming alongside them as these communities build faith and vision.
